Happy new year, everyone. We finished recording "Mary" today so i posted an mp3 of it, and i threw up some pictures. if i get around to it, i'll give the website a overhaul. or maybe i'll ask steveo to do it in exchange for me helping mix thier new cd. either way, the web site will be changing, and also theres a slight chance we might be playing at hen hud on the 12th of January, whether we do or not, you should come to support our friends, Ambition Free. Also, the cd's release date will have to be pushed back a bit cuz there's still a lot of recording yet to be done and we have to come up with money for production. thats all.

12.27.01
Okeedoke, we started recording yesterday, and despite some problems (Fucking ISA SCSI card, tires blowing up, china cymbals falling down, sticks clicking, not turning the compressor on, the list goes on...) it's coming real nicely and we're happy with what we've got so far. i dont know an exact date we'll have it done, cuz it all depends on how crazy we want to go with mastering. You can definitly expect it by the beginning of february, and maybe earlier. other than that, i dont think there's any new news. except for the fact that i miss my girlfriend cuz she's in san fransisco, so that makes for sad jim but thats my own business. Come support us at the wildside show in rye cuz we get a percent of the door, so we want tons of people to show up, so erase everything you have on the calender for january fifth and drag all your friends to the show. later kids, stay gold. high fives and stage dives.

Aright, Jim here. Evan's home from school so i'm gonna make some announcements. We are set to beging recording real soon so expect a cd by the end of january. Also, we will be playing at Wildside in Rye on January 5th. The show begins at 7:00 and we are headlining. I'm not sure how much it costs. For directions, email poorlenore@yahoo.com and we'll get back to ya. For a ride to the show, call your friend with a car. Also, there will probably be a show at the Black Cow this January, we just have to set the date with our friends at the cow, so come support us. See ya guys at the shows...

Hey everyone, this is Evan. We want to thank everyone who came out on the 30th for the show...it was a lot of fun and we were really happy to know that a lot of you appreciated our set...hopefully we'll be playing some shows in December and January if we can....we also will be recording our CD in Cobb Studios (AKA jim's basement w. Cakewalk Sonar) so that should be cool...we'll post pictures and video of that (why you'd want to see our recording progress but whatever).....

11.20.01
This is Jim again. I posted our live mp3 of smiling faces. If you want to hear more. Email us with what "live song of the week" you want to hear on the site. If we get no emails, which undoubtably will happen, I will pick, and pretend like we got thousands of emails.

11.11.01
This is Jim. I just changed the ads on the page so that it's a popup ad, and we don't have to have 2 ads with the frames. big thanks to chelsea for telling me how to do that. hehe. and yeah do what evan said down there...

11.09.01
Hey...i'm gonna try something weird to see if anyone actually still checks out this site.....just a fun little test.....i (evan) want our fans and the other people who look at this site to tell us what Poor Lenore songs we should play live on the 30th.....we've got like 20-something songs to choose from (which I'm not gonna list) you can give your requests by EMAIL or by signing our guestbook with your selections.....if you don't know our songs just write something like "that one where you guys go all hard and crazy and scream a lot" or "that one when Jim tried to set himself on fire and almost killed himself" or "that one when Jim screwed it up by tripping and falling on the lowdown stage" or "that one that evan can never remember the lyrics to".....or simply "that good one"....or EVEN SIMPLER "you guys suck....don't play any songs...in fact get the hell out of this town with your weird music"....also if you have shoutouts you want us to do onstage or antics you'd like to see performed we'll do those too (within reason.....marriage proposals are a plus....that'd be funny)
Rest assured there are some songs we're definitely playing...we just wanna make sure that we don't miss anyones' "favorites" (if such a thing exists)...this is a very cool show...and it would be even if Ignite wasn't playing...but that just sweetens the deal...bring your friends (hell, evan is dragging a friend from school down for the show) so they can see the band that no one is talking about.......but then they can get great performances from Ambition Free (or Dead End...whatever), Whats Your Problem Brian?, Your Day Strong, Trust and of course....IGNITE!!!!! Second Wind is playing too.....they're good but not necessarily what you'd expect at a Hen Hud punk/hardcore show...but then again...neither are we.........
ps. use our guestbook or die!!!! post anything....i'm gonna start posting philosophical discussions (yeah we wish we had AFI's message board with their fans who have interesting discussions on existence and the like....) so just speak your mind and express yourself....have fun!!
~Evan~

10.31.01
12:25am.......HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!!! We have info to add to the show.....It will indeed be at Hen Hud HS....I have no idea when we'll be in the show (1st, 2nd, doesn't matter). But the big news is that we get to play with Ignite!!!!! If your response to this comment is "who?" you need to goto www.ignitemusic.net and find out why this is so amazing....also....goto Trust's website for a more complete listing of all the amazing bands that will be playing this great show....its for the Red Cross so you shouldn't show up for us, but rather for the cause its towards...the music is just a great incentive....while there....you should buy the rest of our t-shirts cause we'll probably give most of that money to the fund......that's all for now.....email us pictures of your halloween costumes!!!!

10.30.01
We have a show!!!!!!
November 30th....opening for Trust and others @ Hen Hud (i think, we'll keep you posted)

10.28.01
Hey what's up this is Evan....we've got some bigger, better news for all you crazy fans out there. First, if you haven't noticed, Jim has added both a guestbook and a message board to our humble site...please abuse the guestbook as often as possible...i get so bored here at college and seeing entries, especially stupid ones about irrelevant anger towards us is always funny...
Also, needs to be known that Evan has a radio show! Tell all your Bostonian friends to tune into 100.1FM WBRS Saturday Nights 2am to 6am (yeah its sunday morning)....last night was the first show and it featured music from Poor Lenore, Nobody's Heroes and Trust! Hopefully the station will go back on the Internet soon and all of you can hear it!
In terms of shows, we hope to play with Trust in Scarsdale sometime in late November, and we'll be playing a Temple Israel show in June '02 we also hope to play at the Masters School eventually and may do an acoustic show this Christmas Break at the Black Cow if we can organize it. That's all for now....

10.18.01
This is Jim. I'm building a recording studio in my basement (really good quality shit). If any bands want to record, call me at 271-6093. I have low rates and really good quality recording so gimme a call, and we'll work something out. It should be completely up and running by the holiday season, and maybe even before then. So call me. 271-6093.

10.16.01
I just threw in a guestbook. Don't be too harsh, please.

10.12.01
Hey Guys, its jim...I promise we're still here. I haven't talked to Evan in a few days, so i'm gonna call him in a minute to see whats new. We'll all be in Waltham, MA the weekend of Nov. 17th to see AFI and Death By Stereo, so we may be playing a bit up there. As promised, this winter we'll be recording our full length. Hopefully it will come out well. I must say, things have been looking blue in the world lately, and I need to play with this band to keep me sane. So dammit, Evan, come home! I'm going to go now, but please, if anyone still reads this thing, email us and let us know, we kinda need a bit of encouragement right about now...or at least I do...

9.13.01
Hey...It's Evan from Brandeis just checking in with everyone...I don't know if anyone even reads this anymore, but I just wanted to say that if you do...thanks...if you're a fan and you take our messages to heart we want to send out just one more tonight....though not affected directly, the members of Poor Lenore extend our condolences and sorrow to those hurt by Tuesday's tragic events...I feel as though we should say something....I know it's been driven into everyone's minds but we truly want to try and sympathize with all those affected.....we probably won't address this in our music...I personally feel that even my exposure to people affected and knowing people who almost lost their lives is not enough to put into song, even though I wish we could comfort people on a larger scale than just through our grief and compassion...our email address is Poorlenore@yahoo.com and if you need to express your anguish...we'll listen and write you back ASAP.....on a more positive note....Evan is coming home this weekend...unfortunately the show at the Masters School has been postponed to an unknown future date but we'll keep you posted for sure.....we're practicing hopefully this weekend and hope to record over winter break....until then...our prayers are with you

8.11.01
It's 1:44am and I just got home from our show at the Lowdown with us opening for Trust, One Last Shot and Morgan Storm...we hadn't practiced in 3 weeks and John hadn't seen his kit in a week so we weren't perfect...but we had fun and rocked out...thanks to all the bands especially Morgan Storm who blew everyone away with the most emotionally driven fantastic set ever...we were amazed...and hope to play with them again
so john will be going back to school (sniff sniff) and Evan leaves August 26th...but we will be playing at the Masters School September 8th or 15th so we'll have more info very soon for you...everyone needs to come and support our triumphant return home and back to the place where Poor Lenore was introduced to the world (or Irvington atleast)...that's all for now...Evan is writing new material and we hope to record at home over Christmas break...check back for updates and email us for whatever reason you want...

8.05.01
hey...its Evan..I'm back from my vacation...and some stuff has happened...we played a show at the Lowdown in Mt. Vernon on July 11th...due to schedule changes (and the fact that 2 Shots of Rye are a bunch of assholes)...we played last and only like 14 people were still there...we had fun...but it was a little stressful....we have a live recording but its bad...don't expect much of it to end up on a CD...we'd like to thank Meghan from Morgan Storm and the guys in One Last Shot as well as Timmy the soundguy for making the best of a bad situation...
next...John went away...we're all sad (the two of us) not to mention all the friends he left behind who miss him...he's at Bard College which is only like 90 minutes away so that's cool
Jim went to the Warped Tour and met AFI...he was happy...we'll have pictures soon
finally...we may play at the Lowdown this friday Aug. 10th with Hands Down, One Last Shot, Morgan Storm and many others...this all depends on whether or not John can come home, one week after going to school...if you're a drummer and can learn 7 songs in under 5 days email us here and get ready to play...we also may be playing a show at the Masters School in September (either the 8th or the 15th)
that's it...see you soon

7.10.01
ok, this is jim now. i'm going to start emailing people to get us shows. if you want to book us, PLEASE EMAIL US. we have lots of new material and we dont suck as much as we did at our last couple of shows. in fact i think those of you who were at our last show really got jipped as far as hearing good music, and i want to appollogize, it was the fourth set i played that day out of a total of five and i was mad tired. whatever, it doesnt matter, just as long as you book us for more shows so we can prove to you we dont suck. later gator..............................

7.09.01
we're practicing and getting ready to record...that's it...email us for shows

6.20.01
Hey we haven't updated in a week or two, but a lot has happened...so i'll get our fans up to speed. So, we've got 2 shows coming up, but there's no official info yet...we'll be playing in July at the Holy Name of Mary basement w/ CUpS, OLS, Nobodys Heroes, Hands Down (they're awesome...and if they read this...Walkabout is a cult), Ambition Free and I think we're trying to pull in other bands like Morgan Storm, the Sawtooth Grin and the Ralph Furley Fan Club...but nothing is definite...we've also been contacted by Break Your Legs Management...they're putting us on the bill for this charity show in Peekskill sometime in July...so we'll hopefully straighten in all out.
IN OTHER NEWS....jim left Coming Up Short...we're not saying its a bad thing or a good thing...there's no bad blood between our bands just b/c we shared a member...hopefully all those guys still love us the way i love them.....we'll continue to promote each other and do shows and stuff. Uhh there's other stuff...we're gonna try and start laying down tracks for our record...which is tentatively titled "We're Off to Save the World...Be Back in 15 Minutes"...but if you have a better idea for a title...please please please email us w/ suggestions...we're also fixing up our set list so that we'll be hitting you with some harder musically...but for those of you into our lighter stuff...don't worry..songs like "smiling faces" and "nights" won't change....if you have shows and you need a band...let us know...we do everything and anything...acoustic or electric...doesn't matter

"look in my eyes know the truth, we are a portion of the wasted youth"

6.10.01
Okay, so we played the Temple Show (Ambition Free was great and Coming Up Short played what may have been their best show ever, with smoke and sirens and everything!) and we thought we were pretty bad, we just hadn't practiced in a while..if you stayed to hear us...thanks, if you liked us, email us at poorlenore@yahoo.com and make us feel bad...cause we think we really sucked...but we sold our merch...which is available either by bugging us when we're around (we live in Croton and frequent Hen Hud), or by emailing us...but then you'll have to pay shipping...shirts are only 8 bucks....and we need shows!!! so email us for booking or else.....

6.03.01
Yeah, this is jim, i just updated the site and i put some mp3s on. 2 demo mp3s and one live one. so check them out or i will put leeches on your face.
MP3S, MOFO!!

5.29.01
WE DIDN"T SUCK!!!!! Well that's according to the people who were there...so if you still think we suck, you'll just have to book us and then come see us for yourself. In other news, we've got at least one other show you can come too:
June 9th, Javafest at Temple Israel, Croton, NY, $5 ($4 w/ a canned good) from 8 to 11pm also featuring Coming Up Short and Ambition Free.....so you should show up to that...we've got a really good set with some new stuff (hell, it's our 2nd show...it's all new stuff) so don't miss out!

5.23.01
Alright...this is the last straw...if you are reading this and you've told us you're going to buy tickets, and you haven't...we're going to kick your ass..you know who you are (Jesse, mickey, emily, danny, gail, minogue, meredith, etc.)...tix are only 10 bucks...so get them the show is saturday at 5pm....to get to the show all you have to do is take 9 through ossining past Arcadia (you know, McDonalds, Toy Works) and keep going until you get into Dobbs Ferry and see a sign for Clinton Avenue...make a left and then go until you see the school...get there by 4:30....cause we going on at 5 on the dot...and if you haven't bought tickets we may be able to sell you them at the show...but we can't promise we'll have any left....you should also come to our headlining show at Temple Israel on Saturday June, 9th at 8pm...its with Coming Up Short and Ambition Free...oh and soon we'll be moving to http://www.poorlenore.cjb.net just so its easier to find us...but Jim is lazy so you're gonna be waiting a while...that's all for now!

5.14.01
We've got tickets!!! So come find us and buy them...for you! for friends! for the homeless guy up the street instead of getting him some liquor!! Also...the new Weezer and the new Tool records come out tomorrow so go buy them too...and give them to Evan for no apparent reason!

5.10.01
Okay, Evan is going to the Masters School tomorrow to get like 30 tickets....its around $10 for students (that's anyone 18 or under) and $15 for adults.....its for a good cause so we're not sneaking anyone in free....in other news...it turns out that "sway" is the name of a popular Rolling Stones song...so we want just a really cool name that's completely unrelated so read the lyrics and email us what you think! Till then we're out...

5.09.01
Okay...so here's the official info on the show at The Masters School (thats on 49 Clinton Ave. off Rt.9 South, in Dobbs Ferry). We're playing a 20 minute set, and also playing will be Double Standard! So that's really cool....tickets are $10 for students and $15 for adults but need to be purchased in advance...if you wanna go...email us...we'll put you on a list when we go and buy tickets and then you'll pay us back. That's all for now...

5.03.01
Hey there kiddies....remember how we said we hoped we'd have good news for the next update? and remember how the next update said we sucked a big one at the audition?? well, it turns out that someone in the crowd from Maverick Records saw beyond that and must've seen some glimmer of skill or talent (its all John...) and we're going to be playing so here's our dates so far.....
May 26th- The Masters School (either 5pm or 9pm, and either $5 or $15 the former is for students but we're not sure if it only applies to Masters students)
June 9th- We're set to be the headliners at the Temple Israel Javafest w/ Ambition Free and either Coming Up Short or maybe Morgan Storm (if we beg) thats like $4 and a canned good...
both shows are for good causes (Suicide Prevention and Helping the Hungry respectively) so we expect all you fans (hah what fans?) to come out and show support...learn our lyrics and sing along too!!

5.02.01
Well, we didn't exactly do as well as we'd hoped. We played "nights" and "mary", but Evan's guitar wasn't loud enough for nights.....and Jim broke a string so we just kinda wrapped it up then and there....the good news was we got to play with Double Standard and 3 Seconds to Victory and handed out like 4 or 5 copies of our demo....so hopefully something will come out of this....actually...on a tangent, something did....Evan may have a date to his prom...this very sweet & pretty girl named Caity (who also auditioned and sang like an angel) offered to go with him so he's gonna call her this weekend...(Caity if your reading this I am planning to call you so that we might possibly go out this weekend and get to know each other)...so that's always nice...we are desperately looking for shows now...we want to play!!!!

5.01.01
This will be brief. We're competing tomorrow at the Masters School in Dobbs Ferry (that's 49 Clinton Avenue, Dobbs Ferry, NY) for the opening act spot for 2 suicide prevention shows featuring Maverick recording Artist Dakona. Hopefully we'll have good news for the next update. If you can, please please please come to the audition to support us. It's from 7:30 to 10:30. We think we'll be playing either rewind, mary, nights not about a friend or if we get bored or annoyed....sway.
